4 Simple and Effective Tips on How to Overcome Sinusitis?
Many people suffering from this
irritating diseases as the same question as how to overcome sinus infection?
There are many reasons why people get affected with sinusitis sometimes, but
people tend to be oblivious to it at initial phases. Everyone may have suffered
sinus infections many times in life, but most of them who are getting affected
with it frequently didn’t try to trace the real reason behind it.
In fact, not identifying it and
taking care of it proper is the reason why it comes back frequently. However,
some people easily get rid of sinusitis by properly monitoring and taking
adequate treatments for sinusitis and allied symptoms. Here are some tips to
have a good control over sinusitis.
1. Identifying the infection type
To control sinusitis,
at the first point it is essential to recognise the symptoms of sinusitis. In
real, most of the times, sinusitis presents itself as the symptom. The
associated symptoms during this infection may get worsen over a course of 5 to
7 days. The allied symptoms of chronic sinusitis may be long lasting and minor
usually, but sometimes may get worsen. Some of the common symptoms include;
q Mild
to moderate or sometimes severe headaches
q Tenderness
or pressure around the eye region.
q Nasal
clogging and congestion
q Runny
nose
q Postnasal
dripping
q Sore
throat.
q Thick
mucus felt at the back of your throat.
q Cough
q Fatigue
q Fever
q Bad
breath etc.
2. Consider the seriousness based on the
duration of symptoms
Check
for how long you experience sinusitis related symptoms. Some sinusitis may be
acute by just lasting for a week to two. Some more serious sinusitis infections
may last for a longer period like one month to twelve weeks.
Acute
sinusitis may be caused by many reasons, but most commonly it is due to viral
infection. This will improve in a week or two. Allergies are another the most
common reason of chronic sinusitis. The patients who have asthma or those who
smoke are prone to chronic sinusitis.
3. Check fever
The
allergic sinusitis may be usually accompanied with a fever. Sinusitis can also
be a result of infections from a common cold, which may or may not present with
fever. A high degree of fever like 102 degree Fahrenheit or above may be
indicative of bacterial sinus infection. It is also important to consult a
doctor if you find a fever of above 102 degree.
4. Look for dark and thick yellow-green
mucus
Dark
yellow to green mucus will be present on having a sinusitis which also may have
a bad smell and taste, which is resultant of bacterial sinus infection. If you
find this symptom, it is essential to consult a doctor who may prescribe an
antibiotic as augmentin, amoxicillin, azithromycin, or cefdinir etc.
If
you keep a watch of your sinus infection for a couple of days, you will be able
to know whether it is important to see a doctor or not. As discussed above,
high degree of fever and thick yellow to green mucus is indicative of bacterial
infection. Even if this is not the case, if you find the other symptoms last
for more than seven or ten days such as headaches, productive cough, shortness
of breath, chest heaviness, ear pain, eye pain or vision change etc, it is
essential to consult a doctor. This article was brought to you by the leaders
