Best ways to keep your immune system strong

Your immune systemprotects you from severe viruses that can bog you down with infections like flu. If your immune system is strong, your body will be able to fight from such viruses. 

Think of your immune system as a cricket game, where all the cricketers should display their best form and performance. In a game, if anyone player fails to give his best, then the whole team stands a chance to lose the game. 

Apply the same thought process for your body’s immune system. It is important for all your organs to perform their best to protect your body against viruses. 

Here are a few ways to keep your immune system strong.

  1. Following a healthy diet in your lifestyle

Eating healthy food helps you to keep your immune system strong. Fill half of your plate with green salads and vegetables and the other half with pluses and protein-rich foods. 

Food items like fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices are necessary for your immune system to function properly. According to research, spices like clove, oregano, cinnamon have antimicrobial properties that stop the growth of harmful bacteria like bacillus subtilis and fungi like aspergillus flavus that can spoil the food you eat. 

Minerals such as zinc, iron, copper, selenium, folate, vitamins A, B, C, B6, and B12 obtained from your daily intake can help your body maintain a strong immune system.

When you are asleep, your body heals and regenerates. Having a good night’s sleep indicates that you have a healthy immune system. 

According to a study, when you are asleep, your body produces key immune cells like cytokines, T cells, and interleukin 12. When you don’t get a sound sleep, your immune system becomes weak and is unable to defend your body against harmful viruses. 

According to a survey, if we compare a young adult who does not have any sleeping problems with a young adult who suffers from insomnia, the youngster is more likely to be influenced by the flu even after he/she is vaccinated. The National Sleep Foundation suggests that everyone should at least sleep for seven to eight hours daily.
