Best ways to keep your immune system strong

Thursday, July 16, 2020

Your immune systemprotects you from severe viruses that can bog you down with infections like flu. If your immune system is strong, your body will be able to fight from such viruses.

Think of your immune system as a cricket game, where all the cricketers should display their best form and performance. In a game, if anyone player fails to give his best, then the whole team stands a chance to lose the game.

Apply the same thought process for your body’s immune system. It is important for all your organs to perform their best to protect your body against viruses.

Here are a few ways to keep your immune system strong.

  1. Following a healthy diet in your lifestyle

Eating healthy food helps you to keep your immune system strong. Fill half of your plate with green salads and vegetables and the other half with pluses and protein-rich foods.

Food items like fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices are necessary for your immune system to function properly. According to research, spices like clove, oregano, cinnamon have antimicrobial properties that stop the growth of harmful bacteria like bacillus subtilis and fungi like aspergillus flavus that can spoil the food you eat.

Minerals such as zinc, iron, copper, selenium, folate, vitamins A, B, C, B6, and B12 obtained from your daily intake can help your body maintain a strong immune system.

Ensure you take in sufficient amounts of vitamin C because people with a deficiency in vitamin C are more likely to fall ill.

2.                  Getting good quality of sleep

When you are asleep, your body heals and regenerates. Having a good night’s sleep indicates that you have a healthy immune system.

According to a study, when you are asleep, your body produces key immune cells like cytokines, T cells, and interleukin 12. When you don’t get a sound sleep, your immune system becomes weak and is unable to defend your body against harmful viruses.

According to a survey, if we compare a young adult who does not have any sleeping problems with a young adult who suffers from insomnia, the youngster is more likely to be influenced by the flu even after he/she is vaccinated. The National Sleep Foundation suggests that everyone should at least sleep for seven to eight hours daily.

3.                  Consuming Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 can effectively boost up your energy. It also helps to boost your metabolism. Vitamin B6 is essential for your nerve cells. It helps create red blood cells and gives you a healthy glowing skin. If your red blood cells and nerve cells are not in good condition, then you will start feeling tired and your cognitive abilities will suffer.

B6 also helps to keep the immune system strong. The deficiency of vitamin B6 is very rare as it is found in most of the regular food items. Therefore, there are fewer chances for a person to suffer tiredness due to the deficiency of vitamin B6. However, if you want to boost your energy and want to get rid of unwanted fatigue, then B6 supplements are great. Vitamin B6 is the best energy supplement for athletes.

4.                  Taking in Chondroitin

Chondroitin is a structural block of cartilage. It helps to stop the breakdown of cartilage from osteoarthritis. According to a clinical study, chondroitin helps in reducing joint pain in people with osteoarthritis.

As per research, 53% of the people who took chondroitin showed a 20% improvement in joint pain. Chondroitin sulfate also helps in slowing down the development of osteoarthritis in the long term. Joint supplements are often made by combining chondroitin with glucosamine. Chondroitin is one of the best joint supplements you can take.

5.                  Caltrate

Caltrate is one of the best vitamin D3 supplements of 2020. Vitamin D3 and calcium both are necessary when it comes to attaining healthy bones. Vitamin D helps in absorbing calcium from the milk and food, which is essential for healthy bones. That is why several supplements and tablets combine calcium and D3 together. Apart from bones, this combination also helps in keeping your nerves, hormones, and teeth healthy.

The Caltrate tablet is a combination of vitamin D3 with 600 grams of calcium which is great to keep the bones healthy. It is important to note that if a person is consuming dairy products three to four times a day, then they are consuming an excessive amount of calcium. Taking vitamin D3 and calcium together in one tablet is a smart and good choice as they both work well closely.
