The weight loss industry is almost seventy-three
billion dollar a year industry. With one hundred sixty million Americans
overweight it’s no wonder that the industry will grow significantly over the next
five to ten years. It seems as though everything is super-sized when it comes
to our eating habits and there are fast-food restaurants at every corner
waiting for you to drive-thru. I rarely come across anyone that doesn’t want to
lose weight but most people say they have tried every diet and it’s just too
difficult to lose weight or they just simply don’t have time. Well, it’s time
to put the excuses to the side because your life could very dependent on it.
Being overweight or obese can lead to serious health problems that will only
get worse and possibly lead to an early death. Today we are going to look at
some simple steps you can take to lose weight and keep it off. These tips are
designed to help you lose weight quick or miraculously in two weeks but if you
make these simple changes in your everyday lifestyle you will see slow but
steady weight loss and within a short year you could shed twenty, thirty, forty
or even fifty pounds depending on how serious you are about losing weight.
Fad Diets Don’t Work
You have probably seen tons of advertisements
for the latest and greatest new diet fad that is causing people to shed the
pounds. Just remember that the people who are promoting the diet spend millions
of dollars on marketing to trick consumers into thinking they work. Fad diets
don’t work because they are often to unrealistic for everyday people living
everyday lives. You may try the diet for a month and actually lose ten pounds
but the minute you get off the diet you will gain those ten pounds right back
and you discourage yourself very quickly. Fad diets are usually extreme and
require you to eliminate entire food groups and this makes it very difficult to
keep up with on a long term basis.
Exercise Is Important
Although exercise is usually only twenty percent
of your weight loss it is important but no matter how you want to look at it,
you will only see weight loss when you expend more calories than you consume.
The way we expend calories is by body functions and exercise. Your body burns
calories doing daily actives such as walking through the grocery store, taking
a shower and even sleeping but exercise will help increase the number of
calories that your body burns every day. If you have never been known to
exercise then you can start off small with walking for thirty minutes a day and
increase that amount slowly.
Monitor Your Intake
Nutrition accounts for eighty percent of your
weight loss so without the proper nutrition you won’t be able to see weight
loss. You don’t have to be extreme with the food you eat but it is recommended
that you count your calories and track your macros so that you know what you
are putting into your body. There are many good tools to help you track your
calories and macros such as the macro
calculator free. You will have to enter
the food you eat into the calculator and it will tell you how much protein,
fat, carbs, sugars, etc. that you have eaten for the day. To find a macro
calculator for free just simply search the internet and you will be given a
wide variety of options to choose from.
